White Light

Monday, August 29th, 2005

For anyone who hasn't heard the Gorillaz new album 'Demon Days' it's absolutely fantastic, although it does take some getting used too.

So today I went back to Leeds and helped with the patio some more. It started off last week as me wanting more work because I got 4 days off from Dishes but I went back today because I wanted to help and I said I would if i could get it off from Dishes. So today was more heavy lifting and carrying but i did get to play with a drill to clean all the crappy old cement off of the flag stones. That was fun but my arms were numb from the vibrations by the end of it.

Whilst in Leeds I mentioned to Steve (Friend of the family) that i'd love a BBQ for tea but couldn't be bothered. But once i'd got back home I discovered that my mum had already got one going, woo! So had BBQ food for tea which was nice.

I've been reading the blog of a guy from university who has just graduated and gone to Japan to teach English. It's a very good read and I suspect it would be quite insightful for anyone interested in doing the same or going out to Japan. I find it really entertaining. Check out Simon's Japan Diary or his RSS Feed.

Well I think that's it for tonight apart from, if your not watching The Mighty Boosh You had better start!!

I’m Pooped!

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Well since Thursday I’ve been quite busy. On Friday I went to Leeds to help lay a patio, doing mainly lifting and carrying stuff but it was all fun. Come Friday night I was shattered and had an abnormally early night of around 10:30! Saturday was as usual, working at Dish’s, had a really good shift there which was great. Last night I went to my dad’s BBQ in Harrogate, had some nice food and a good laugh, I was the designated driver for the night but that was ok because I didn’t feel like drinking anyway.

So today I have a day off. I might go for a drink a bit later with some friends but can’t stay out late as I’m going to be picked up at 07:15 to go help with the patio again :D Well, I think that’s an adequate update for now, toodle pip!

New House Pt. 2

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

Me and Claire went to go take some stuff to Claires new house in headingly today. It's a little 3 bedroomed terrace house in a scary looking part of headingly. Is nice inside though apart from the very small shower, lol.

Was playing with Google Talk this evening and despite having some problems communicating between the google talk client and a jabber client on a mac it's pretty nifty in my opinion. It's like msn used to be, clean, fresh, un-cluttered. I can see it being used mainly be the more tech savvy side of the internets users which might not be such a bad thing. Although I think it's going to have support for talking to others using msn. I think this is a bold move by Google because now they're moving more and more into Microsofts grounds.

Well, am having an early night tonight because tommorow i'm going to go do some labouring on a building site. Well, I figured that because I have 4 days off this week that i needed at least 1 more day of some-sort of income. Anyway, might do a bit of good for the old body! Gute Nacht!

New House

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

I’ve just got back from shooting some pool with Quinny down at the king billy(the closest pub with a pool table) and am about ready for bed!

So I travelled to Hull today to pick up my keys for the house i’ll be living in next year. It’s a terrace house that, despite appearences is quite big. We have 8 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a nice spaceous kitchen and a decent sized living room. The kitchen has 2 cookers, 3 fridge freezers, a dishwasher and a washing machine. Now that i’ve seen it in it’s new state i’m very much looking forward to moving in on the 11th. Until then Adam and Kaspar will be there on thier own. But with no internet there things can get a bit boring i’d imagine.

Perk Up

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

Me and Claire have just got back from a fantastic meal at perk up in Ripon. If anyone local reads this or wants a far fetched meal then I suggest a trip down for supper. For an amush-bush Hugh made us a Fish and chips in miniature with his own made tartar sauce (An amuse-Bouche is a small creative “bite” served when guests are first seated). For starters I had grilled sardines on grilled ciabatta which were very tasty indeed, for mains I had pork loin on sage mash with a honey and pepper glaze, Claire didnt have a starter but for mains she had grilled chicken breast with tarragon mash and a tarragon cream sauce. Both dishes were superb. Then for dessert I had one of Hugh’s almost famous lemon posset (a favorite of mine whilst I was working there) with poached peach and Claire had dark and white chocolate brownies with hazelnut-freddo (a frozen cream with hazelnuts in, kind of like an iced parfait) and hot butter-scotch sauce. All in all it came to a very, very reasonable £47.30 including 4 classes of the house white. So a very satisfying night was had, I could get used to this dining out stuff, makes a change from cooking it.

So I have 3 days off and and tommorow I am going to go collect my keys for my house in Hull, can’t wait :)

Podcast Support

Sunday, August 21st, 2005

Well, after being introduced to Podcasting I thought that perhaps i could make a podcast of my own. I thought about it before concluding that i’d have bugger all to pod about. But I have however added the support to my blog for what i’ve called Mediacast. I think Mediacast is a much better name as you can have audio or video. it’s kinda cool I think. So if i post some media with an entry it shows up with the “media” logo. Woo!!

Airport Running

Sunday, August 21st, 2005

Ok, so I've just got back from picking my mum up from Newcastle International Airport which is approximately 150-160 miles round trip, which oddly I really enjoyed. I dont mind driving long distances at all. So I thought that seeing as this is almost officially a blog Id make the effort to post something, weather or not someone is reading is different.

Have got some pictures from the gathering we had on Thursday night but better than that I have a video of me doing something a bit out of the ordinary but realllyyy fun. Fire breathing. A very good friend of mine, Andy Quin has been telling me for ages that he'd show me how to do it and true to his word he has and I've got a bit of a taste for it. Im thinking of buying some equipment and books on how to do it and giving it a bash. I couldnt go whole hog and buy loads of circus type stuff like Andy has because I'm poor at juggling, lol.

Anyway bed time, am at work at 9am dagnamit! Ah well, its money! Cheerio

The Morning After…

Friday, August 19th, 2005

Well, i think it's fair to say i had a well earned knees up last night and got a bit drunk tbh. So this morning when i finally got up to walk to work and collect my wages i was a bit hungover. Was worth it though… getting up i mean. I got my wages and also spent just under half of it (93.71 (ouch)) on buying myself some nice shiny kitchen things for work and uni. Am looking forward to them getting here :D Well, for the rest of the day i'm at a bit of a loose end so i'm going to enjoy my days off and do bugger all apart from work on the admin area a bit more. Wicked!!

A Change From The Norm

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Me and Claire have just been out to Marios Restaurant 27 in Ripon and had a fantastic meal. The prices are very reasonable at 55 pound for the both of us. To start I had gambas something or other which was king prawns in a tomato and chili sauce, very nice, for mains I had a steak with garlic butter and some sauteed mushrooms. Claire had Parma ham and melon to start and minced chicken cannelloni with mozzarella. For dessert Claire had profiteroles and I had lemon sorbet which was amazing.

All in all it was a very good night. Now Im sat watching Lost on channel 4. For those that don’t know it’s about a plane that crashes on a tropical island whilst on it’s way to America from Australia. I’ve seen two episodes now and it’s very well filmed.

Today I made some more minor changes to the website, made it Valid XHTML 1.0 and CSS as well as validating the RSS feed. Fun fun.

Well am at work tomorrow at 9 then have Friday and Saturday off. I’m going to stay in on Friday, recover from the party my brother is going to have (only a small one ;)) and wait for the pest control guy to remove the wasp nest from my roof. Then on Saturday Im going to pick my mum up from Newcastle airport. Catch y’all later!

after an introduction to podcasts from Mr Pimp Daddy(David Morris) I am now quite hooked on the podcast EarthCore. It’s very well written and performed by Scott Sigler. Get more info <a href=”http://www.scottsigler.net/earthcore/” title=”Get More Info On EarthCore Here” class=”links”>here</a>
