Woo, Winamp Goodness

Thursday, November 24th, 2005

Well, as a major peice of procrastination (Look at the time! 8-o) I've been playing with a plugin for winamp. I wanted to display on my website what i'm currently listening too. I know you can use audioscrobbler to do this but i fancied something a bit more direct. So after downloading CurrentlyHearing2 I proceeded to tinker with the php that parsed the file on the website and in my opinion made it much better.
You can see the comparison in output alone between the Original and Mine.

I played with the parsing algorithms so that instead of lumping all the data together, I can call current track, current track(expanded), previous tracks and next track independantly.

This allows me to place any of the data where i want. I'm hoping to refine it further so that an album cover search can be made to amazon to accompany the expanded track data. Have a play, let me know what you think ;)

Edit: And yes I am aware that my links dont display properly in RSS feeds. Grrrr, it's finding time thats the problem these days…

About that time ey chaps? Right ‘o

So, I haven’t updated for over a week, I think the novelty might have worn off… again.

So last weekend I went to Claires house and went out for a meal with Claire, Jenny and James (Claires housemate and her boyfriend). We went to Bella Italia in leeds centre and it was fantastic. To start I had Mussels in a white wine, cream and garlic sauce. To follow I had a nice steak with diced potatos. Was very nice indeed!!! Claire had Bread cheese to start, chicken and bacon tageatelle in four cheese sauce and for dessert hazelnut brownies in toffee sauce and a shot of ammaretto. A fantastic evening was had by all.

Saturday night I went home for the night and watch films with my mum and brother for a bit. Stayed up for a few hours past midnight and had a laugh with my brother (it’s amazing how well we get on now were not living together. You start to see people for who they are instead of what they are(brother)).

So on sunday me, Mum and Steve went to tescos to do some survival shopping for me :) ~That was fun and I won ‘whoever has the most random items in thier trolly at the till loses’, Bottle of brasso never fails! lol. So sunday night I waited for my little sister Kara to get back from her weekend at her dads house so she wouldn’t miss me again. We then sat and played chess, which for an 8 year old she’s picking up quite well. She’ll beat me in the next couple of years i’m sure. We then set off some fireworks in the paddock, James got steve 2 big fireworks for his birthday so we set one of them off, then ran. It was very noisy!!

Monday through today i’ve been working on my final year project some more and progress is good. Have also been working on my Advanced information systems coursework which is difficult to say the least. It’s the report writting thats the hard part, grrr! So tonight i’ve been and played squash with Adam my housemate and had an ace time! Best of all i’m completly useless at it (adam will back me up!!!), which is nice! Adam did however whoop me!!
First game was 2-1 to adam, second 2-0 to adam the third… 2-1 to adam! But with practise I might be able to win one!

So this weekend is going to be me concentrating on my coursework… hopefully. I do have the best of intentions toward it! ;)

Sleeping…

Thursday, November 10th, 2005

It's currently 02:33 and i can't sleep for trying. The problem is that I had a headache around 10pm so had a lie down and now can't sleep. I hate not been able to sleep when i want too, it's worse than sleeping when you dont want to.

The last couple of days have been pretty un-eventfull really but I am making good progress on my final year project so that's good.
Claire managed to buy tickets to see Robbie Williams in concert next September so she's absolutely made up. I think it'll be a good do but tend not to get too excited about things like this till closer the time.

Not much else apart from to ask, what does everyone else find entertaining on the internet when suffering from insomnia?

Fireworks

Sunday, November 6th, 2005

Tonight me, Claire, Kaspar and Sam went to the University's fireworks display and it was fantastic. They obviously spend far too much money on the event but it was about as much fun you can have with explosives without lighting them yourself!

So the last couple of days have been good, am not that stressed at the moment. On thursday I went to play badminton with Kaspar, Sam and Adam and had a good game. We all then spent an hour in the gym and 15 minutes in the sauna. Woo!

So last night I cooked for me and Claire and we had Salmon on rice with balsamic jullien carrots. It was very nice, a dish I think I'll make again if not just to perfect it ;) Claire also ate all of it, quite an achievment for such a fussy eater!

We also watch the Interpeter starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn and Alien vs Predetor. The interpreter was ok, but all a bit too convinient for me. Alien vs Predetor, however unbelievable was a fantastic action film in my opinion.

In other news, it was my brother James' birthday this week as well as Steve my mums boyfriends. Happy Birthday Guys!

Labs

Tuesday, November 1st, 2005

I went to my Commercial Games Development Process labs this morning and they were great. The lecturer Jon Purdy has a very relaxed style and it felt like more of a general chat about computer game than a lecture. He even put burnout on the projecter! So after the 2 hour labs i sat in the labs for anouther hour before going to my Stratigic planning and systems development lecture, which was really good. Then i went to the computer centre to get a copy of exceed (a solaris 9 emulator) so i can do my Advanced information systems coursework but they didn't have any again! aaarrrggghhh!! I then went for a final year project meeting and then home.

I hung around home for a few hours and then went to the gym with Kaspar for an hour. He bet me £150 that I couldn't do 15reps at 190 kilos on the leg press, so as not to appear any less masculine (and all that macho stereotype bullcrap) I tried… and did it, woo!! I won't however call him on it, it's not very nice, lol. Although the money would come in very handy!
