Moved

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

Today I completed the move from the halfstrike server. All went pretty smoothly apart from a few minor things, mainly me not knowing how to use the new admin panel, DUH!

Well here it is, I'm hoping to have the rss feeds moved to rss.dtgreenwood.com real soon. until then, peace!

Working & Website

Friday, December 30th, 2005

For the last two days I've been helping steve at a house in Thirsk doing bits and bobs, cutting things up, fitting cupboard doors etc and it's been really good fun. It's nive after a holiday of rest to do even a little bit of work. Feels good. I'm going to help for a couple of days next week aswel which will be cool.

Also, This website is moving!!! It's actually going to be DTGreenwood.com rather than DTGreenwood.com wannabe people.halfstrike.com. Me and Sam have changed hosting packages and as such have the ability to host our websites in thier own right. Whish is nice. So soon I'll have DTGreenwood.com up and running. Am wondering if i should have the rss feeds at rss.dtgreenwood.com, what do you think?

Been and gone

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

well, it's done. Christmas is done and dusted and it was great. I had a really good time this christmas, my family really got into it this year. Christmas day I went to Claires house and had christmas dinner there, then again that night at my house then again on boxing day, I have some serious excercise to do, whgich will be fun because I got a squash racket from my mum and Steve, A Slazenger PRO x130. I'm looking forward to using it! Anyone who reads this blog from time to time will know I absolutely love food and everything about it, with that in mind my mum and steve also got me a pasta machine. A pasta machine for anyone that doesn't know is a small devise that you turn to roll out or cut pasta and they're brilliant.

So in the next couple of days i'm going to have a go at making my own pasta and thn trying to burn it off at the gym again.

Merry Christmas

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

Merry Christmas everyone! I am currently a bit drunk and am making myself drink water. Not drunk enough to turn my computer into a router but then there's plenty of time for me to make that oh so common mistake ;)

Peace and carrots dudes!

There’s No Place Like 127.0.0.1

Wednesday, December 21st, 2005

Well, I’m home for christmas and I’m feeling the festive spirit at last. The problem with being at uni is you get kind of sheltered from christmas, sure you see the supermarkets advertising, shops with decorations and street lights but somehow it never sinks in unitll you’ve got home and spent a couple days with your family.

For some reason christmas just aint the same without your family, or at least not for me anyway. Well today I’m trying to work on my commercial games process coursework and make some progress, unsuprising that I’m blogging then huh! Later on I’m going to go visit my dad in Harrogate and drop off his presants for christmas.

One of the best things you can have for christmas is infact a girlfriend or friend that LOVES christmas. They leave no stone unturned in thier quest to make everyone they know happy and always have great ideas on what to buy people. Which is great when your pants at thinking of presants. lol.

So anyway, on with the coursework and Merry Christmas to everyone I know, I hope you have a great christmas, eat good food, drink and be merry ;)

Financial Analysis

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

I'm currently trying to create a financial analysis of a company for my coursework in strategig planning and systems development and it's not going well. The problem i'm having is that i can't apply the accounts published by the company onto the exampls taught in lectures. This is mainly becuase the companys accounts have so many different terms and figures in than basic accounts. I know this is the real world and basic accounting models dont always fit but damn, it's just making this whole thing so much harder.

Anyway, in other news, I'm going home on monday to see the family, should be fun! Can't wait, only thing is, i have to tidy up before i go, damn! I find myself cleaning to get out of coursework, a first for definate.

Whizz Kid!

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

What is the world coming to I tell you! My 8 year old sister has been talking to me on msn messenger! It's actually scary to see hoe savvy she is with it, she spells brilliantly, uses emoticons in appropriate places and knows what alot of abbreviations are!!

So today i have made some great progress on my final year project in that i can now, add, delete, search, increment number of items and decrement number of items. I'm hoping to get all the functions for accessing data done before i go home for christmas so that when i get back i only have to work on the user interface, that's the plan anyway. At the moment i'm having trouble thinking of an idea for a game based on bees. It's a peice of coursework i have to do and so far i'm really stuck. Might end up just thinking emaginative ways to catch bees somehow.

Lazy Days

Sunday, December 11th, 2005

Well, I've just got out of bed, shocking! Last night i sat and played with my website a bit, mainly the rss feeds. I changed thier locations and ironed out some errors, they now validate properly, woo! Also, the number of comments should be displayed in a standards compliant rss aggregator. I'm using SharpReader again, it's really good.

Today is going to be a final year project day, i have a few tasks that need completing before i got home for christmas, so got to crack on!

I've decided to stay at uni till the semester ends, which is something like the 20th of december. this ensures that I can get help on any of my projects right up untill the end… and i might need it.

w00tage!!

Thursday, December 8th, 2005

today I had my advanced information system exam and am feeling… ok. The exam, while not easy, was fair. It had the sort of questions that require a proccess (data maniulation) to answer as opposed to just writing about the area. This is my kind of exam. The questions werrn't really hard, but required alot of thinking. I think over all it was a good exam paper. Credit to my lecturer Dr. Darryl Davis for giving what to me was the fairest exam I've ever taken whilst still being one of the hardest.

I also collected my coursework for the same module today and I got an A-. Brilliant. So am feeling pretty good today. I am at the time of writing this sobering up having been drinking from 12:00 till around 4pm. Woo!!

You know what… It's almost BOOM! Headshot time!!!

Blood Brothers

Saturday, December 3rd, 2005

Last night me and Claire went to York Grand Opera House to see blood brothers by Willy Russel and it was fantastic. The story is based on a set of twins who are seperated at birth but against the wishes of thier mothers meet each other and bocome best friends. It was a musical performance and was very well done, definatly one of the best theatre performances i've seen after Trainspotting at York Theatre Royal.

Also earlier this week I went to see Our Day Out also by Willy Russell, preformed by the Hull University Union Drama Society. A really good performance with some stong characters, let down I feel by the location for performance given to them by the union.

Also in other news, I handed in my Adavanced Information Systems coursework and they've all been marked by our lecturer Dr Daryl Davis. Good news is that no-ones failed but i'll be more than happy if i get a 2:1 because it was i feel a difficult peice of coursework. Other than that I have an exam for AIS on wednesday then I can start thinking about going home. Woo
