Alas, I have speakers again!!

Monday, January 16th, 2006

My speakers have finally arrived, i've been waiting for ages to get a set of speakers again. My last ones developed a dodgy cable and were extreamly tempremental. For the last 6 months i've been using infared headphones and they're doing my head in!!!

So today i recieved my Creative i-trigue 3400 and they sound fantasic, nice and clear. The remote is the only one i've ever seen with a base volume control on it. brilliant!

Illness and DVDs

Monday, January 16th, 2006

Theres nothing better than staying in bed when ur ill. Although I've got lots of coursework to I felt it was important to get better as my work might suffer if i work on it whilst i'm ill. So the last couple of days have been spent in bed watching Alias Season 4. For anyone who hasn't seen Alias… *slap*.

Alias is one of the best espionage sci-fi series ever!! The plots whilst sometimes a little unbeleivable are amazing and the characters well developed and mysterious. I now own all 4 seasons on DVD, the first 3 were bought for various birthdays and christmases by Claire. I only have 4 episodes left of the series to watch and then comes the wair for series 5. doh. i can't seem to find any info on a release of the fifth series but then it hasn't all been aired on tv yet.

*cough* *splutter* Great, I’ve got a cold.

Friday, January 13th, 2006

Yup, for the past two days I’ve been awake for roughly 19 hours a day finishing off coursework, with a cold. the first one in was my final year project interim report on thursday at 4pm, the second, my game design coursework 9:30am this morning. Needless to say I’ve had little sleep. 4 hours this morning and 4 hours yesterday morning and i’m feeling it. I feel like i have a headcrab attached to my face stopping me from breathing and giving me a sore throat. I suppose it’s one of those university experiences that everybody has, especially at the start of semester when everybody brings thier own home brand of the cold virus back with them.

This puts me in a less that jolly mood. It’s not often I get ill, a fact i’m very gratefull of but when I do, I feel terrible with it. This said, I just want to curl up in bed and most definatly not go to loads of lectures and stay in uni all day. Grrr. On the bright side, I should be fine in a day. Role on!

Lectures & Fort Minor

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

Today I’ve been quite busy with lectures, ok so not too busy seeing as i only had two but it sure does feel that way. Tonight I’ll be mostly working on my final year project interim report. It’s basically a document on how my project is doing and all the different aspects invovled so far.

This morning my Fort Minor cd arrived in the post and oh my! It is astoundingly good. It’s easily the best cd i’ve purchased this year and last! For those who don’t know Fort Minor is a side project of Linkin Parks Mike Shinoda. For anyone that know linkin parks stuff they will know Mike Shinoda is a lyrical genius and a perfectionist and this album shows it. You can really see where Linkin Parks Hip-Hop influence has come from. This album is definatly worth a listen and may even open a few people up to the hip hop scene.

Hobo pwnage!!

Folks, something strange, wrong but very funny has just happened. Tonight whilst on my way back from a game of squash with Adam my house mate, I stopped at Sainsbury's/Jacksons on Newland av where many a big issue seller setup their pitch, to get some cash from the machine. Being a very nice young chap I offered to buy this nice gents last Big Issue from him so he could go home(?)(I actually thought it would be harsh to refuse his last big issues whilst the hole in the wall dispensed £10). So when I handed over my fresh from the machine £10 note, he promptly handed over my £8.80 change, thanked me and set off 'home'. Once in the car I handed over the money to Adam to hold whilst I drove because I was wearing shorts. Upon handing over the money I noticed that the homeless magazine distributer had not in fact given me £8.80 but had given me £13. Oops! The old geezer had given me a £10 instead of a £5 in his haste to get home to his, warmer than Newland av, bed. Upon realizing what he'd done I then calculated that he actually tried to stiff me 80p as the big issues costs £1.20. Cheeky git! So there it is, I robbed a homeless guy.

Work and Radio

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

A faily placid crimbo and new year, spent christmas eve in the unicorn and the white horse with my good friend Andy Quin (peace out dude! love ya!). Christmas day was spent firstly at Claire's house for christmas lunch, then onto the green hammerton social club to be beaten at pool by some old guy and Claire's grandad, grrr. Then home for 7pm to have my families christmas morning (dont' ask) and another dinner. Boxing day and another christmas dinner at my grandparents house. New year I went into ripon with my best mate Sam Holman, Girlfriend Claire and Andy Quinn, first the white horse then the dog and duck! niiice! Then home for chocolate cake!!

That is a complete run down of what i did over the festive season in brief!

I've been working over the last couple of days with steve again, it's been really fun and something i could definatly do for a filler job in the summer.

So now i'm kicking back with a gin and tonic (1 pint of) and listening the the Ollie C Show on RadioRSP. It's a radio station run by a few guys I used to goto Boroughbridge High School with. Nice guys… most of them.
