Busy Weekend
Monday, May 1st, 2006It's been quite a busy weekend for me but pretty good also. It started on sat morning with the continuation of revision. I figured that seeing as I'm about to take a software engineering exam that I should put on and glue in place my coding cap. So I've done just that and every stolen minute has been spent making some new stuff on the website.
After paying £75 for a PhpEdit 2.x license, I implemented a BBCode parser class that works with my site wide parser to make shiny and valid html, woo. took me a bit longer to get it working on the rss but that also is integrated into the textparser class I created. So now I can use my parser anywhere on my site by doing this:
Code:
include_once('textparser.php');
$textParser->parseSiteText($text2Parse);
And the effect, well, your lookign at it, shiny!!! Aswell as that I think it's important to revisit old code after a break from it and you can always see better ways of doing things. So to see if I could optimise some of the code on the site I wrote a timer class, the results of which can be seen at the bottom of each page. After that I set about rewriting the monthly article counter on the left so it does infact display the previous 12 months and not just the last 12 months as long as they were in this year, grrr. So that's working now aswell. W00t!
So apart from slogging it out with my websites (bad?)design My Dad came over to give me my wages from the other week and for to stay a night. I made a curry for us both, felt wierd cooking for my dad at my house lol, after whcih we went to our on-campus student union bar, The Sanctuary. We played pool (David Snr 1 - 2 David Jnr, woo) and watched some cricket whilst having a good old chinwag. We were then joined by the rest of the guys and had a good ole time. Stayed up late with the lads and played Gamecube(I owned all asses on supper smash brother melee!!) and poker(ownage also with the reward of topping up my copper pot :))
This morning I went for lunch with Dad to the Zacharia Pearson(Wetherspoons) for some brunch which was ace. So over all a darn good bank holiday weekend. So now, on with proper revision, doh.
